Job Summary

Actively provides outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all. Under general supervision, is responsible for billing of all self-pay patients and insurances in a timely manner. Verify Patient information on requisition as directed. Adheres to all company policies and procedures. Adheres to all rules and regulations of all applicable local, state, and Federal agencies and accrediting bodies.

Principal Duties and Job Responsibilities

  • Works all accounts to ensure all Patients' information on requisition is accurate. Works with Insurance Follow Up Specialist to ensure timely billing and follow up including proper adjustments made on account by entering Patient and insurance information daily.
  • Check Patient eligibility for all insurances daily, maintaining established goal(s), and notifies Manager of issues preventing achievement of such goal(s). Follows up on daily claim corrections in Patients' accounts. Assists Customer Service with Patient concerns/questions to ensure prompt and accurate resolution is achieved.
  • Work on rejected claims of payors and patients, requesting additional or missing information, making sure all step(s) that are taken, and all measures are correct to resolve assigned accounts
  • Adheres to all compliance and HIPAA regulations by verifying pertinent information to determine caller authorization level receiving information on account

Knowledge and Skills Required

  • Ability to use discretion when discussing personnel/patient related issues that are confidential in nature.
  • Knowledge of lab billing preferred but not required
  • Ability to be responsive to ever-changing matrix of clinic/center needs and act accordingly.
  • Typing skills equal to 40 words per minute net.
  • Proficiency in performance of basic math functions
  • Ability to communicate professionally and effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft office products such as Word and Excel.
  • Strong analytical and research skills.

Education and Experience Required

  • 1- year experience in medical billing of claims, collections, and customer service. Understanding of ICDl10 codes, CPT Codes, insurance denials and Explanation of Benefits (EOB's).
  • High school diploma or GED
